Kakuma is a place where strength and resilience run deep. Situated in northwestern Kenya, this refugee camp is home to thousands who’ve fled hardship across Africa. Yet, despite the challenges, Kakuma has become a crucible of talent, producing models, artists, and storytellers who are redefining what it means to rise above.
When Chapmodels discovered Badhiel, they saw his rare, star quality. After his initial training, he caught the eye of ISIS Models, who sent his portfolio to major fashion houses. Soon, Badhiel landed his first exclusive campaign with Yves Saint Laurent. But his journey had its hurdles, an airport snag in Nairobi led him to miss that season’s jobs. Yet, with every setback, his resolve only grew stronger.
His true debut came with Bottega Veneta, where he became a star in their campaign, making waves across the industry and marking his arrival in high fashion.
Opportunities continued to unfold. He walked for Bottega Veneta’s Fall/Winter 2023 show in Beijing, leaving an unforgettable impression, and starred in their Autumn/Winter 2023 campaign, captured by Julien T. Harmon. His performance cemented him as one of the season’s standout faces.
His versatility showed in his collaboration with Samsoe Samsoe and GORE-TEX, where he brought an innovative outerwear line to life, featured in Orienteer Magazine. It was a project that showcased his adaptability and pushed the boundaries of modern style. 💫
