10th Anniversary of Vogue Talents for Africa
Africa International Fashion Week (Scouting for Africa) was launched in Lagos Nigeria back in 2014.
Vogue Talents, in collaboration with International Business Consortium Nigeria Limited (the organizing body of one of the major model search agencies and owner of Ecowas Fashion Week and Africa International Fashion Week), and in partnership with Studio 24, proudly launch “Scouting for Africa,” sponsored by Access Bank PLC Nigeria and Baileys.
To achieve this historic event, Vogue Italia requested 100,000 euros. Access Bank contributed 70,000 euros, while the remaining 30,000 euros were donated by Runways to Freedom through IBCNL, a sister company.
“Scouting for Africa” is a groundbreaking international project dedicated to discovering emerging talents in women’s and men’s clothing and accessories. It targets designers who hold nationality from any African country, regardless of their current residence, and designers of any nationality based in Africa. The profiles of the best designers will be featured in the January 2015 issue of Vogue Italia. Additionally, one selected designer will have the opportunity to exhibit their garments and accessories at the prestigious Palazzo Morando in Milan during an international showcase in September 2015. During this special showcase, the chosen designers will present their collections to journalists, buyers, and fellow designers.
Furthermore, the selected designers will participate in the Africa International Fashion Week, scheduled from December 2 to 6, 2015, at the new Grand Ball Hall in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria. The event will culminate in an awards evening organized by Baileys, celebrating women who have significantly impacted the fashion sector in Africa.
